Beat the Cold with These Tips!

Temperatures are lowering, winter is coming. It’s time to take those extra thick sweaters out for the season. Here are some tips to hep stay warm.

Dress in Layers

Usually when it starts to feel chilly we add layers, doing this keeps us warm. The weather is unpredictable, no matter how accurate the weather app may seems, be prepared for the unexpected changes.

Some options include but not limited to:

1. Turtleneck

2. Multiple thinner sweaters

3. Fuzzy socks

4. Jackets

Turn on Ceiling Fan

Believe or not but a fan can do more than cooling you. Having it on can help circulate the air and keep your space warmer longer.

Tip: Put the fan in reverse. It will push the hot air down.

Hot and Cold Shower

Hot showers will warm you up quickly. However, a cold shower helps with circulation and blood flow. Ending your showers with cold water can also help keep you warm after stepping out.

Sun can be Fun

Harness the warmth of the sun by keeping the blinds open during the day. At night, you can close the blinds and curtains to insulate your home better.

Layer your Blankets

Much like layering with clothes, you can also do so with the blankets around your home. Putting the more fluffy blankets closest to the skin and the thin blankets on top to help trap the heat.

Stay Dry

One of the main reason why you may feel cold is due to moisture, from wet hair or sweat. When stepping out into the cold snowy world make sure your gear is dry and bonus points if they are freshly warm out from the dryer.

As residents living in Winterpeg we are use to the snow, but who wants to be cold? Lets stay warm and cozy this winter!

Move in season has begun and we know how stressful it can be even when the sun is shining and warm. We wanted to ease the stress as much as we can, so here are some tips you can use if you’re new to renting or even a vet and want some tips.

  1. Measure Spaces – Before moving in measure your new space and doorways to see if your furniture will fit. There are many instances that a doorway may look big enough, but turned out to be a couple inches too short. Therefore it is also a good idea to makes sure that whatever you are trying to move will fit so no one is stressed.
  2. Check Utilities – Our properties don’t all have the same exact suite amenities. Some include heat and water. Others include all utilities, it’s a good rule to make sure they all work efficiently and to contact your caretaker or a third party if otherwise.
  3. Review Lease – Reviewing the details of the lease helps you, as the renter, understand what you can and can’t do in your unit. Are pets allowed, smoking, wall art, renos? Check the lease agreement or ask your caretakers.
  4. Explore Amenities – Water, heat, hydro. etc. are all important and should be considered first. You never know is your building has a gym, patio, common room and so on if you don’t explore. Take advantage of these amenities if you are someone that likes to entertain or like staying in.
  5. Security Measures – Familiarize yourself with your building’s security features. Whether it is a key, fob, app or code, it’s important to ensure you know the ins and outs. As you never know what can happen.
  6. Packing – When packing if you have clothes on the hangers keep them on there are put a trash bag over it, it will make unpacking easier and faster. For fragile items such as plates, use your clothes and fold the plates in between. This helps reduce any additional costs to protect your delicate item and the number of boxes being used.

We hope that these tips and tricks can help you make moving in much easier, quick and painless.

Spring is in the air

Happy Earth Day! We celebrate every year to remind ourselves how fragile our planet is and to protect it as best as we can. Here are some ways we can contribute to help keep our planet clean.

1. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Being mindful about your waste all year round, whether it be from reducing your use of one-time-use plastic or taking a reusable water bottle with you around town. This practice can reduce waste in the landfills.

2. Cutting down on carbon emissions
Depending on where you live and ability you can opt with walking, biking, bus or utilize our Peg City Car Co-op program. Taking these measures can help reduce carbon coming into the air, and can help reduce your spending on transportation.

3.Awareness and education
Keeping up to date with environmental issues will help us stay mindful of the emissions we produce individually and spreading awareness to others too.

4.Converting to LED bulbs
LEDs are energy efficient, last longer and generate less heat, using on average 90% less energy than traditional incandescent lights. Not only are LEDs good for the planet, it is also beneficial for our own health.

As individuals there are so many ways we can help to keep our home healthy. On Monday April 22 let us take some time to help our planet.

CONGRATULATIONS to our talented project team on winning the 2023 Professional Property Association award for renovation of the year! Awarded to Towers Realty Group for the renovation project completed at Osborne Central, located at 491 Stradbrook Avenue in the heart of Osborne Village.

This renovation was thorough and sweeping. Not only were the suites brought up to a new standard which can only be described as dazzling, one main floor suite was removed and turned into a common room with a shared outdoor terrace for resident use.

Formerly Eldorado Arms, the complete and utter transformation of this property called for a whole new identity and so Osborne Central was born and the building was completely re-branded to better align with the new resident experience the property would offer.

Since completion, this building has remained full and currently has a waitlist for suites. It is a stunning addition to the neighbourhood, and highly sought after. We couldn’t be more proud of our talented team including our Project Managers, Property Manager, Marketing team and Leasing team for their work on this project.

Thank you also to PPMA Manitoba for this incredible honour. GO TOWERS! Special thanks to BLDG Architecture and Nasta Construction for their work on this project as well.

Whether you’re a seasoned chef or a kitchen novice, our advice will help you transform your cooking space into a harmonious haven of efficiency and style. Join us as we unlock the secrets to maximizing space and minimizing stress in your apartment kitchen!

  1. Declutter and Prioritize: Start by going through your kitchen cabinets and drawers. Donate or toss items you rarely use or are broken. Prioritize keeping essentials and multipurpose items that save space.
  2. Utilize Vertical Space: Invest in vertical storage solutions like hanging racks or shelves to make use of empty wall space. Hang pots, pans, and utensils to free up cabinet space and add a decorative touch to your kitchen.
  3. Drawer Dividers and Organizers: Keep drawers tidy and organized with dividers and organizers. This helps separate utensils, gadgets, and cutlery, making them easier to find and reducing clutter.

4. Stackable Containers: Opt for stackable containers for dry goods like flour, sugar, and rice. They not only keep your pantry organized but also maximize vertical space, allowing you to store more items in a compact area.

5. Label Everything: Labeling jars, containers, and shelves can save you time and frustration when searching for ingredients or cookware. Invest in a label maker or simply use masking tape and a marker for a budget-friendly option.

6. Under-the-Sink Storage: Make the most of the space under your sink by installing shelving or organizers specifically designed for this area. Store cleaning supplies, garbage bags, and extra kitchen essentials neatly tucked away.

7. Optimize Cabinet Space: Use risers or stackable shelves inside cabinets to double your storage space. Group similar items together, such as baking supplies or spices, to streamline meal prep and cooking.

8. Over-the-Door Storage: Take advantage of the back of cabinet or pantry doors with over-the-door organizers. Use them to store spices, wraps, or cleaning supplies, keeping them out of sight but easily accessible.

9. Invest in Multi-Functional Furniture: Consider furniture pieces that serve multiple purposes, such as a kitchen island with built-in storage or a dining table with shelves underneath. This saves space while providing extra storage options.

10. Regular Maintenance: Lastly, make it a habit to regularly declutter and reorganize your kitchen. Spend a few minutes each week tidying up and putting things back in their designated places to maintain a clutter-free environment.

With these handy kitchen organization tips, you can transform your apartment kitchen into a functional and efficient space. Say goodbye to clutter and hello to streamlined meal prep and cooking. Happy organizing!

Finding the perfect place to call home involves more than just touring properties and envisioning your life within their walls. It’s crucial to dive deeper into the rental process by asking Leasing Agent or Caretaker questions before committing to a lease agreement. Whether you’re a seasoned renter or stepping into your first rental journey, asking the right questions can make a significant difference in your renting experience.

We prioritizes tenant satisfaction and a seamless renting process. As you consider renting through Towers Realty Group, here’s a list of essential questions to ask our Caretaker or Leasing Agent:

  1. Rent and Lease Terms: What is the monthly rent? Are utilities included in the rent? What is the lease duration, and are there any options for renewal or early termination?
  2. Maintenance and Repairs: How are maintenance requests handled? Is there a dedicated maintenance team, and how quickly do they respond to issues?
  3. Property Policies: Are there any specific rules or regulations tenants need to follow? For example, restrictions on pets, smoking, or alterations to the property.
  4. Security and Safety Measures: What security features are in place within the property or building? Are there security cameras, gated access, or a concierge?
  5. Parking and Amenities: Is parking included? What amenities are available to tenants? (e.g., gym, pool, laundry facilities)
  6. Tenant Turnover and Vacancy Rate: How long do tenants typically stay in the property? What is the vacancy rate for units in the building or complex?
  7. Rent Increases: How often does the rent increase, and by what percentage? Are there any clauses regarding rent hikes within the lease agreement?
  8. Payment and Fees: What are the accepted methods of payment for rent? Are there any additional fees or charges beyond the monthly rent?
  9. Emergency Procedures: What is the protocol in case of emergencies, such as a plumbing issue, power outage, or natural disaster?
  10. Neighborhood and Surroundings: What’s the neighborhood like? Are there nearby grocery stores, public transportation, schools, or recreational areas?
  11. Previous Issues and Renovations: Have there been any significant issues with the property in the past, and how were they resolved? Are there any upcoming renovations or construction plans that might affect tenants?
  12. Communication Channels: What are the preferred channels for communication between tenants and management? Is there an emergency contact available after office hours?

Asking these questions can provide a clearer picture of what to expect when renting through Towers Realty Group. By addressing these concerns beforehand, you’ll make a more informed decision and ensure a smoother renting experience.
